A New Adventure

Entrance into the Privett Centre

Welcome to our website and blog.  Here I will be sharing some details about us, our plans, ideas and generally what we have done and will be getting up to.

This project has been a long time in the making and here is a little bit of history as to how we got here.

My husband and I have lived in the village since 2009 but that aside my dad grew up in Privett from age four (this is his 70th year) and attended school here along with his 6 siblings.  The headmaster lived in the School House and the classrooms were located in the large hall and smaller side room.  Since then, there have been some extensions and renovations which aren’t quite as beautiful as the original building but certainly have valuable use being the commercial kitchen and toilet facilities.

Fast forward a few years, Sage and Season, my floristry and flower business began hosting suppers at The Privett Centre in July 2018.  At that time the whole property was being used as overnight accommodation for children to experience out of school learning whilst also being available for hire to the general public as accommodation and as an events space.

The centre was put up for sale in 2021 and when a sale fell through a meeting was set up for the village to see if anything could be done within the community.   It was during this meeting that the idea to create an Educational, Arts and Events space was born.

With the invaluable help and support of the community we have been able to secure the property and I feel it a privilege to be given the opportunity to try and create something special to be enjoyed by all.

My background is in art and crafts – having studied my degree and masters in textiles it has always been second nature to work with my hands.  This combined with my love of travel, cooking, floristry and gardening I hope to create a space that is welcoming for all to learn, explore and enjoy.

I will be running limited courses myself – I’ve too many wonderful makers and creators in my network that I’d be crazy not to involve.  Sage and Season will host the days providing refreshments, lunch and generally looking after everyone whilst our visiting practitioner runs the course.
